NEWSFLASH: ANet listens to whining!
[Dev Update] Shadow Form Balance Changes - 2 July 2008
The primary goal of this update is to address the high efficiency of Shadow Form farming builds. It had long been possible to maintain Shadow Form permanently, but when the duration of this skill was increased, many new and more powerful build options became viable. We are not opposed to players using Shadow Form for farming, but it is not good for the game economy for high-end farming activities to become too easy or too efficient. The new set of builds enabled by Shadow Form did exactly that.
This update is intended to bring builds based around Shadow Form more in line with other farming builds. In order to accomplish this, we’ve not only altered Shadow Form itself but also made some changes to creatures within the Chaos Plains[sic]. At this time, we have not made it more difficult to maintain Shadow Form permanently, because this would be more likely to remove Shadow Form farming as an option for many players. We will, however, continue to monitor the effects of these changes moving forward and will make further changes if necessary.
[edit] PvE
[edit] Assassin
* Shadow Form Shadow Form: now reduces the damage dealt by the caster by 50% while active.
This is intended to slow down killing while under the effects of Shadow Form. We recognize that this does not affect killing by Health degeneration. That is primarily being addressed through the creature changes listed below.
[edit] Underworld
* Added Hex Breaker to Mindblade Spectres found in the Underworld.
* Several Banished Dream Riders Chaos Plains region of the Underworld have been replaced with Cursed Dream Riders.
* When Cursed Dream Riders are killed, they cause Mindflay Spectres to spawn. Mindflay Spectres have Signet of Disenchantment instead of Hex Breaker.
The use of Hex Breaker by Mindblade Specters should require more skillful play by characters who are using Shadow Form in conjunction with hexes. Because Shadow Form does not protect against Signet of Disenchantment, these characters will also want to avoid confrontations with Mindflay Spectres. The net effect of these changes should be to decrease the overall killing speed for Shadow Form characters in the Underworld.

Hope you guys stocked up on your ectos.

A-net just gave in to the SF QQers in just a few weeks. Damn, who knew that whining actually does get you what you want? I guess the update was a good way to sell more copies of Factions, as Ursan was a way to sell more copies of EoTN. Too bad the chaos plains had to go down like that. Why not nerf drop rates, like they did the smites? *sigh* off to pits and pools it seems*
EDIT: I recently noticed you can edit the Dev updates...meaning that someone could have easily loaded up a bunch of bullshit onto the wiki and everyone notices it and freaks out. Could it be a hoax..idk, but do notice how there's no period at the end of the dev update statement, meaning that any GW player could have made up all this and started a whole bunch of madness here.

We understood that when they decided to move the Bonus Mission Pack onto buyable purchases.
Regardless, godmode shouldn't exist in any game in the first place.

you know that if they didn't change it, they'd be giving into the whiners who whined about not changing it, right? You're being hypocritical, and Regina has said they've been discussing this forever.
Also yes, Anet listens to whines, unfortunately only half of what they listen to is ever of any worth.

lol that would have be good. well don't get into ursan, anet said there working on it last i heard, the team is get head aches over it. they understand the ursan supports grinding and being a noob in DoA and other places. but they also know ursan is highly used and the gw riots of 1960's will begin. ursan also requires highly tuned con sets and team work, (if you count ursan as team work (some people (my allaince) do))

Oh well... I wish they would just think of what they are doing before they buff skills in the first place! hehe...
Sounds like Chaos Plains can still be farmed though. Just don't kill the Cursed Dream Riders. My question is how many Cursed Dream Riders will there be? They used "Replaced" so I'm guessing some Banished DR will be removed meaning less creatures to farm.
Glad i didn't sell any of my ecto that i farmed.
To bad they nerfed Shadow form itself though. They did this to nerf the Chaos Plains they should have left it at that.

ursan, imbagons and other shit didn't single-handedly kill the price of ectos.
also, to the OP: yes, too late. the first thread was better. yours shows too much QQ bias

QFT, and I love how people blame the more hardcore players for demanding such an update...It isn't our fault we can't trade more than 100k without using ectos.

First of all...you don't know what you're talking about. SF doesn't cause the drop in ecto prices. Most of the sins farming bought stuff for themselves. Do you know what drops ecto prices? Noobs who sell to trader, and those guys with 5000 ecto and wanna play around w/the economy sothey sell to trader. What happens then? Huge dip in prices. Sell to trader=drop in prices. Buy from trader=rise in prices

Emphasis mine. Statement can't be proven, you don't need to get hostile over someone stating truth. Many sins may have bought stuff for themselves, but anyone just farming ecto could have sold to trader and killed ecto prices, the fact of the matter is that ecto prices dropped with the advent of perma SF.
